For now, Second ignored that. He looked back at the screen, his brain wracking for an explanation or something to make sense of this. The last thing that happened, however, was the screen glitching out as the sounds of something hitting the ground repeatedly was heard. Before Second could look at the source, however, everything went dark as the walls around his cell were surrounded by what sounded like heavy duty metal plates, blocking out everything.
or, after seeing the footage of him using his powers, second gets trapped in a pitch black cell. as days turn to weeks, and weeks turn to months, he slowly starts losing his mind.

“You want to throw my laptop off a cliff.”
“Or smash it. Or set it on fire. Or all three. We can workshop it.”
There’s another quiet laugh, but it doesn’t quite stick the landing. Avery hears the hesitation creeping back in, curling around the edges of D3r’s voice like fog.
“In person,” D3r says, not quite a question.
“Yeah,” Avery says easily, like it doesn’t make his stomach flip. “In person. I wanna meet you.”
The words hang between them.
He watches D3r’s character on screen because it’s easier than imagining D3r’s face doing whatever it’s doing right now. The avatar doesn’t react, of course. Just stands there in the pixelated grass, the moon casting a pale square light over his shoulders. Avery imagines he can see tension in the way the model is angled, which is ridiculous, but he’s very good at projecting onto blockmen at this point.

Summary
Fifteen hours. Fifteen whole hours of him recording a Minecraft video, and yet it doesn’t even tell the whole story. Avery tried to figure out what was going on, he really did. He analyzed the recording the first time he saw it as much as he could, but nothing. He’s not good at these kinds of puzzles, him and Derlord know that. Stupid riddles, stupid puzzles, stupid videogame, stupid google drive file.
Avery knows that Derek doesn’t want him to think that he failed, but how can he not? If he was smarter, maybe things would’ve gone so differently. The recording of his letter… he can hear how much he’s suffering, so why? Why did he do this? Why couldn’t he just risk another way of escape that doesn’t harm both of them?
Why couldn’t he just….
