Summary
Reki knows his soulmate's name is Langa, but also knows it's very unlikely that snowboarding star Langa Hasegawa is his soulmate. Still, he keeps up on news about the guy and when he learns that Langa's father was killed in an accident, he starts sending him letters. Drawings, really, that he can't admit to himself are love letters. He just hopes they brighten Langa's day, if he's receiving them at all.
Everything gets turned upside-down, however, when that same Langa Hasegawa suddenly transfers to Reki's school. It'll make giving him the anonymous love letters a bit easier, though...

Summary
Reki had cried when he turned 13 and saw his string for the first time. It was red, indicating a romantic soulmate, but it was long. It didn’t lead to any of the cute girls or guys in school— It didn’t even lead into the heart of Okinawa at all. Instead, it led him to one of the piers, then farther out across the ocean. So Reki had cried. He was just some nobody kid. How would he ever get to meet his soulmate all the way out there?
Langa had woken up the day of his thirteenth birthday confused by the red string on his finger. Only he could seem to see it as it trailed down the stairs and out his front door. It never tugged on him and seemed to lengthen as needed to adapt to where he needed to go.
Soulmate Red String of Fate AU where meeting your soulmate doesn't always mean a happy ever after. That's something Langa and Reki have to work for.

By midnight, all the papers are in order. Bureaucracy moves quickly when you have enough money to throw at the right people. Takashi’s guardians sign him away like he’s a used car they don’t want anymore and arrange a time to drop off all of his possessions, and that’s it.
Shuuichi is no longer an only child.
“He’ll be your responsibility,” his father says on the ride home, as if he’s not talking to a teenager who shouldn’t even be responsible for himself, let alone a five-year-old.
Shuuichi nods anyway. Takashi is asleep against his side, a heavy reminder. Shuuichi will do whatever he has to. He’ll be whatever he needs to be.
He promised Takashi he would keep the monsters away, and that’s what he’s going to do.
