Harry tore his eyes away from the man on the catwalk. The merry party of wizards were advancing on him with Moody at the helm, leaving Uncle Vernon to smoulder a few metres away. He was asked if he was ready to go, which he didn't respond to. He simply let Moody's gnarly, root-like hand clamp onto his shoulder and lead him away.
They followed all the way to Uncle Vernon's Mercedes. Some of them gave Harry hugs while other whispered reassurances that they'd see each other again soon. That the weeks would fly by and that they would come to get him before he knew it. But Harry knew very well that he was doomed. He knew that this would be the last he ever saw of any of them.

Saddled with the challenge of bringing Tom Riddle to his knees with no one and nothing behind him, his desperation for victory morphs into a desperation for the man himself, no matter the consequences.

“What? No smart comeback?” Voldemort asks.
“I f*cking hate you, is that what you want? But I don’t want to leave this room.” Harry says. “You make my skin crawl, you’re grotesque, evil, vile, I cannot stand you, but I can’t leave you because I’ll come right f*cking back, some way, somehow, I will.”
Voldemort takes a seat on the edge of the bed. “I despise you, Potter.” He reaches out and touches one of Harry’s stitched cuts. It stings and Harry groans. “You will sleep here, in this bed. When you are well, you will go where I go and see what I see and we shall never separate.”

After going through all timelines and all possibilities, Viktor knew the only outcome that had Jayce in his life was this.
With the anomaly that time travel included, Viktor thought that he went through every possible outcome. He was sure of it. The data that he ran over the years, he made sure to check it through not once, but multitudes of times through millions of timelines and it all lead to this. It led to Jayce and him holding each other, forehead to forehead in their last moments together... At least that's what Viktor though.
He never expected to awake again, this time in a new timeline. One he's not seen before. One that wasn't a sequence of outcomes.
