Summary
Ava started to notice it in Switzerland. The way Beatrice’s hands would twitch when she was distracted. Like she wanted to do something with them. Anything. Then her fists would clench and she would clasp her hands in her lap or behind her back. Ava also caught her bouncing her knee on more than one occasion, only to plant her feet firmly on the ground with a look that could only be described as intense frustration.

Summary
Mary trudges across the entry hall, adjusting her grip on the child resting on her hip. A girl, from the bits Shannon can make out sticking out from beneath the oversized jacket she's wearing. She looks too old to be carried in that manner, her limbs gangly with new growth, but the grip she has on Mary's sweater makes her seem far younger than her size belies. "Shan, this is Beatrice. Beatrice, this is Shannon. I've got to go, but–"
Beatrice's voice doesn't quite fit the image Shannon's cobbled together in her quick scan. She remains prim and proper despite needing the sleeves of Mary's jacket rolled up to free her hands, despite the knobbly jut of her bare feet, skeletal tree limbs brushing the open air. "Please don't leave me."

Summary
Beatrice shows up at the gates of Cat's Cradle young and a little afraid of what's to come. She's spent her last several years trying to make up for a horrible misunderstanding that got her sent away from the home her parents had built - Outcast from their legacy to maybe find salvation in serving the church. A highly competent team of 2 nuns and a shotgun adopt her as their rookie and teach her everything she knows.

As I like to call it: Baby Bea and the OCS. Beatrice joins the OCS, makes the shortlist for Halo Bearers, and picks up a few sisters along the way.
