It’s on one such sunny afternoon that Sanji finds himself sitting at the base of a large tree, enjoying the warm temperatures while simultaneously shaded by its leafy branches. It’s peaceful out here, so much so that he can almost pretend he’s not a patient in a hospital who has no real plan for what he’s going to do next.
He flinches as that thought occurs to him, his shoulders already hunching protectively up around his ears. At the same time, completely without his permission, his hands start to bury themselves in his hair, tugging at the strands until they hurt.
“Stop it,” he tells himself sternly, rocking slightly back and forth. “Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. You’re fine. Everything’s going to be fine. There’s nothing to worry about here. Germa’s done, the rock’s done, and you made it through both. You’ll - ”

Summary
"Why do you do it?" he asked, his voice cutting through the quiet night. Sanji didn't even seem surprised by the question.
"Do what?" Sanji didn't look at him, just took another drag of his cigarette.
"Throw yourself in front of every attack like some kind of human shield."
Sanji was quiet for a long moment. "Someone has to protect them."
"We all protect each other. That's what being a crew means."
"Yeah?" Sanji's voice carried an edge now. "And what happens when you're not fast enough?"
"They die," Zoro said bluntly. "Same as any of us might die. That's the risk we all take."
Sanji's cigarette glowed brighter in the darkness. "Not if I can help it."
"And what about when you die instead?"
The question hung between them like smoke. Sanji flicked his cigarette into the ocean, watching it hiss and disappear into the waves.
"Then at least it'll be someone who deserves it."
The words hit Zoro like a physical blow. He stared at the cook's profile, at the way his shoulders curved inward like he was trying to make himself smaller.
"You think you deserve to die?"
"I think," Sanji said carefully, "that my life is worth less than theirs."

Summary
The arm Sanji had around his shoulders tightened, and he tilted his head back to expose his neck submissively, moaning Zoro’s name as he sunk his teeth into Sanji’s throat, claiming the cook as his. He licked up the sweat, the blood, the taste more divine than anything Sanji could ever cook up—because the taste was Sanji.
“You’re—” Sanji gasped between his moans, his hand slipping into Zoro’s pants so his fingers could finally wrap around his cock. “—a fucking animal.”
Zoro purred, not at all disagreeing with the sentiment. Zoro would be anything Sanji wanted him to be. “And you like it.” He murmured into his skin, leaning back so he could look down at the left wing, licking the taste of Sanji from his lips, “If I fuck you, do you think you’ll break?”
Sanji laughed, dryly, and rolled his pretty blue eyes, “You couldn’t break me, no matter how hard you try.”
