Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are still learning each other. When Lan Wangji expresses that he is extremely interested in allowing Wei Ying to treat him a bit rougher, Wei Wuxian has some trepidation. But Lan Wangji is nothing if not patient and stubborn, and through his characteristic commitment to a task (not to mention the truly staggering amount of trust and love he has for Wei Ying), he finally gets his way. (As he should.)

“I’d like to… fuck you.”
Lan Wangji responds almost instantly by unfastening his forehead ribbon and placing a steady hand on Wei Wuxian’s chest, attempting to push him down backwards on the mat. He looks so eager and willing and honest, Wei Wuxian feels like it’s almost a crime to stop him. But still, he does.
“Wait! Wait, Lan Zhan, not like this!” He still says and props himself up on his elbows, hindering Lan Wangji from pushing him down all the way.
At that, Lan Wangji takes his hands off him and sits back on his haunches, his posture stiff. The expression on his face is confused, and slightly frustrated as well.
“Then explain to me,” he says.
Wei Wuxian curses to himself. He knows it’s a sore spot for his husband-to-be when he feels like he doesn’t understand him; when he feels like they’re misunderstanding each other like they did so many times in their youth. Still, We Wuxian can’t help but dance around the issues, hoping that Lan Wangji can read his mind. And he knows that isn’t fair. He owes it to him to at least be forthright, even if it means his wish will get rejected. But he hadn’t expected Lan Wangji to act before he could elaborate, and now… It’s coming out all wrong.

Summary
All the hair on the back of Lan Wangji’s neck stands straight. He finds himself pressed between the trunk of the tree at his front, and Wei Wuxian at his back. Wei Wuxian has a firm grip on the wrist which carries Bichen, and on his left upper arm. It feels...proprietary. Suddenly, and entirely inappropriately, a very old, very shameful memory surfaces, of a long-ago dream from which he had woken sweaty and shaking. The place on his chest where the resentment pierced him begins to throb painfully. Wei Wuxian breathes heavily against his ear for half a moment longer, and Lan Wangji feels himself flush.
Or; reuniting with Wei Wuxian after their year apart is complicated by a mysterious and deadly curse.
