Xie Lian stared at it in silence. Hua Cheng had gone to the effort of meticulously pouring over pages and pages of destroyed books, for something that wasn’t even prized literature. For something that was so simple, so silly, something a child would enjoy. There barely had to have been many of them saved, for so few had wanted to go to the effort for such an unpopular book. And yet Hua Cheng had scoured everything he could to find these little pieces of scattered stories just for him. Because he’d lamented missing it only once, and Hua Cheng could tell how much it had meant.
