Summary
Isagi and Rin weren't close, their relationship was flawed and complicated. They were like oil and water, they didn't mix well together.
Rin wasn't kind to anyone, and Isagi wasn't an exception.
So why did he keep clinging to the possibility that Rin would show up? Why did Isagi cling to the hope that this time, things would be different?

"You got a staring problem?" Rin straightened up, now sitting normally as he glares at Isagi with an annoyed look on his face, his eyes narrowing.
"I- what?" Isagi fails to hide his embarrassment and ends up stuttering, getting quickly into his normal sitting position. He just prays Rin doesn't pick up on more of his strange behavior.

“Excuse me?” That was the only sentence he was able to form in the moment. The pure shock and disbelieve on the white haired man’s face and voice due to the situation was so noticeable, that even Master Kagaya detected it.
Kagaya looked at the Hashira has he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “Do you have any problem or doubt about the mission? You seem worried.” The man asked in his usual sweet tone. Deep down, he knew why the Hashira reacted like that, but he wanted to hear those words from the man himself.

Master Kagaya is tired due to Tomioka and Shinazugawa's troublesome relationship and decides to do something about it.
