It was only a simple question but it changed everything. What if Jackie didn't leave a note? What if she went to talk to Hyde instead?
I love Jackie and Hyde but Jackie leaving a note never sat right with me when she was always so vocal about her feelings and making herself heard. So, here's my take on what I think should have happened. I may continue it with Hyde's perspective and his reaction afterward but I haven't decided yet.

Summary
Todoroki is completely head over heels gone for Midoriya.
He was dealing with it just fine until Bakugo explodo-killed a giant hole in Midoriya's dorm room wall, which just so happens to connect to Todoroki's dorm room. Privacy gone. Interaction multiplied. Todoroki can't deal with the greenbean.
Not wanting to face the wrath of Aizawa, they decide to wait until Cementoss returns to discreetly fix the hole in their wall.
Can Todoroki fix the hole in his heart in the meantime?

Midoriya's mouth was moving. He was talking, wasn't he? He turns towards Todoroki and his head tilts in question.
Oh.
He can't even pretend he heard him, his mind distracted and ears deafened by his own tangent.
"Sorry?"
He was rewarded by a cheeky grin, freckled cheeks soft and pliable. Todoroki blinks slowly.

Shouto sent a wave of ice up his own arm and Deku released him with a curse. Todoroki rolled to brace his back against the wall, aiming his right hand at the vigilante.
“Stop it!”
The previously light-hearted vigilante scowled at him as he brushed frost roughly off his arm.
“Look, I get it. I really do, but with all of the big guns away we need you fighting-fit and you’re not helping anyone reducing yourself to this.”
Shouto bristled at the hand that waved at him, keenly aware of his shivering and the ice flaking off of his own skin. "What do you care?"

Six years ago the Heroics Course Survivors defeated the League of Villains. In the present, an attempt on All Might's life causes Todoroki to cross paths with a nosy vigilante known as Deku. In hindsight, Shouto thinks, he had been extremely dense. Overcharged Kaminari levels of dense, really. Then again, it wasn’t entirely his fault, either. Everyone in class 2-A knows that he isn’t really fast on the uptake when it comes to social cues, after all.
So, really, it was all Izuku’s fault, not his.

Or: Shouto doesn’t realize Izuku is confessing to him and it takes him two months to realize that, oh, they’ve been dating. Cue his very silent gay panic.

Izuku drops his face into his hands. “I thought you were going to edit out all that stuff, Ochako!”
“I’m sorry,” Ochako says, as if that makes any difference now. “I tried? But I couldn’t cut it all out or there’d be nothing left. It’s getting a lot of views, at least?
He groans, sitting back in his chair. Maybe it would have been better to feature a different skater. One that he wouldn’t have felt the need to pause and swoon over every five seconds.
He can’t help it. Todoroki is just that amazing. No one compares.
“Now everyone thinks I have a creepy obsession with Todoroki Shouto.”
“I mean… Are they wrong? Well, okay, not creepy. But, like, you are kind of obsessed.” She puts a mug of tea in front of him and sits down in the seat across the table. “Besides, people are still watching for the analysis — a bunch of them mention it in the comments.”
“I guess.” Izuku heaves a sigh. “It’s not like it really matters. Even if Todoroki paid any attention to social media whatsoever, he’d have no reason to watch some random ballet channel on YouTube.”
