I was just thinking about and drawing concept art for a cyberpunk dystopia destiel, and now here I stumble across an absolutely phenomenal rendition of cyborg castiel. I love how the author managed to communicate a sense of almost desperation and panic in an ostensibly emotionless cyborg, with the not frantic but frantic repetition of “COMBAT MODE PATHWAY BLOCKED” and “REQUEST BACKUP PATHWAY BLOCKED.” The robot pov was amazingly executed, with hints of angel fascism. I loved the details when every other supporting character appeared. It was fun that Winchester, Sam had a threat level of 7 and Dean only had 5. I get it but curious to hear the author’s reasoning.
I could live in this universe, I would love to know what Dean is going to do with robo Cas, I want to see the shift from robot to a still-robot-but-not-a-solder-for-the-regime castiel. I imagine it would be challenging to write this pov for a sustained period, but a very compelling and interesting challenge. The “best friends” categorization was kind of heartstring tuggingly naive.Also the idea of a superhuman weapon castiel who could kill everyone is hot. Not that he isn’t already a superhuman weapon in canon. In this way you’ve distilled some very compelling facets of their characters into an absolutely delicious au setting.
