His heart is pounding in his chest like an erratic drum as he presses his lips against Sakura’s under the vast expanse of starlit sky.
The moment is soft, filled with the rustle of leaves and the distant murmur of a nighttime breeze. His fingers trace the outline of her cheek, tasting the warmth of her skin.
It’s in that stolen breath between kisses that Sasuke feels it - a subtle, electric buzz coursing through him. He dismisses it, attributing the sensation to the charged atmosphere of the night.
He doesn’t notice it next time again.

As he rocks her gently back and forth, Sasuke can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the tiny life they created. He whispers softly to her, his voice barely above a murmur.
"Shh, little one. Papa's here. You're safe now."
He brushes a stray lock of dark hair away from her forehead, his fingers lingering on her soft skin. Her eyelashes flutter against her soft, round cheeks, her breathing steady and peaceful.
"I hope you will never know the violence it took for me to become this gentle," he says.

After 2 years of traveling on his own, Sasuke returns to the village where friends anxiously await him. Still troubled by the mysteries of Kaguya and his personal guilt, Sasuke is split between friends and his journey. Troubled by rising casualties and international dependence on her abilities, Sakura is torn between her love for Sasuke and her duty to her village. Taking a chance on love, Sakura joins Sasuke on his next mission in his search for traces of the Otsusuki in the deserts of Sunagakure.
This story takes place immediately after the Sakura Hiden and Sasuke Shinden Light Novels. It tries to be as canon-compliant as possible with minor inconsistencies or deviations.
