Whatever happened to Marty McFly?
After Marty returns from the past he finds himself in a very different present than the one he remembers. His family is rich, his brother has an office job that Marty knows nothing about and by some stroke of luck Marty and his beloved girlfriend Jenifer are still together but the versions of their relationship that each of them remember are completely different.
It’s tough trying to get back to his normal life when Marty doesn’t know what his normal is anymore. People suddenly have expectations that he doesn’t know how to live up to. His teachers are expecting him to keep up high grades. Jenifer is getting suspicious when Marty talks about the party that they had for their first anniversary when they spent that whole weekend alone in the McFly’s cabin.
Objectively, Marty’s life is going very well. The problem is, he doesn’t remember how he did it.

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

Despite the fact we already had sex, he never asked for any real below-the-belt intimacy. Perhaps he’s scared I’d say no or be disgusted by him. Honestly, it didn’t really bother me that he wasn’t asking for sex.
What bothered me was that I wanted him to ask for sex.
When he kissed me goodbye in the morning, I wanted him to ask me to drop to my knees. When he bathed me, I wanted him to ask to push me against the wall. When we woke up together, I wanted him to beg to tear off my clothes and put that throbbing erection to good use.
I wanted him to worship me. I wanted it so badly, but I shouldn’t. I shouldn’t want that. This was so wrong, but he just makes me feel so damn good.

Summary
The warp core is missing, and so are the stars. Stuck in a dead universe no way back to his crew, Mark is forcefully taken in by the C.O.I and tasked with building the SM-13. It's the strongest ship they've got, but something isn't right. People are still dying, despite the sub remaining untouched. Determined to help and rebel against their tactics, Mark concocts a plan to stay in communication with the next convict they send down, without the C.O.I's knowledge.
Simon can't make sense of it, this C.O.I member wanting to help him, his strange ramblings of other universes and wormholes and paradoxes. The company was nice, he supposed. As the two exchange theories and conversations and comforts, the horrors persist, secrets are unearthed and discoveries are made that could possibly change everything.
But why does it feel like they're the only ones who care?
