Summary
Stark stared at the plaza… the music like threads of gold floating in the air, a symphony that invited him to feel warmth and tickles on his hand, almost desperately wanting to hold someone else…
“Hey Fern,” he blurted, though softly, careful not to alert himself but unable to control himself. We should dance together again…”
The music kept floating amidst their silence. Stark was used to Fern just dismissing him with it, but for some reason he felt the need to overexplain himself.
“I was just… saying, of course, since the plaza seems so nice, we don’t have to of course…” The mask of calmness that he had obtained in his training was useful in situations like this, where he would be relaxed but internally shivering with fear.
Another minute of silence passed, and Stark was sure he was going to receive the silent treatment for the rest of the week. Surprisingly, Fern stood up and placed herself in front of him, stretching her hand, “That would be… nice…” and then averted her gaze to the plaza. “If such a lovely night is wasted… it’ll be a shame.”
Or Stark and Fern are walking around town when they notice some musicians in the plaza. Stark invites Fern to dance with him.
