It was not a dramatic shift; it was nothing that any cookie would have taken notice of, until after it had happened.
It was a quiet sort of change. It was something as innocent as two children telling secrets between one another, as natural-feeling as the first snowfall of the year.
He fell in love.
It was nothing he would dare speak of to anyone. Cookiekind would not forgive him for daring to stray from his duties. Selfishly, he wanted to keep his feelings to himself — to hold onto the fact that he had felt happiness for the first time in his rather lengthy lifetime.
