Summary
Max is holding on to Billy as if he would fall apart if she let him go. With how mangled his body was, she honestly thinks he would. She’s crying, her head is spinning, and Billy’s looking at her with wide and scared eyes. Her hands caress his face as he starts spitting up blood, and an intense feeling of grief washes over her when he starts convulsing under her touch. She can’t do anything but hug him harder, tightening her arms around the bloody gore that was Billy’s now fragile body.
It had happened so fast that she hadn’t really processed it until he fell from the tendrils that had struck through him. She screamed for him. Ran to him. She threw herself to his side with her back turned to the monster that loomed over. It would kill her, she had been so sure of it. It would kill her, and her friends, and the entire world in the exact same way it had just killed Billy.
