After the incident, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are still recovering. PTSD, separation anxiety, and unable to handle hot temperatures, they have a long road ahead of them. At least they have each other… and the demon hunters trying to kill them.
Before the incident, Rumi grew up in a concrete cell, in chains, with no knowledge of the outside world. Everything changed when a piece of her cell broke off and she got to see the sky for the first time. Also other girls and their music. It was all scary and new. But what wasn’t? Especially since Celine was on her last nerve with keeping Rumi alive.

To care for a sea creature, you need to find one first. Surprising, I know. Try looking at the local lighthouse. Don't have a local lighthouse? Go to the Washington coast. If they can have vampires, werewolves, and doppelgangers, why can't they have sea creatures?
Don't live near the Washington coast? Yeah, same. Really, you just need a large body of water, any will do, but oceans are the safest bet. Rivers are questionable, and lakes are risky, because that's where the Kelpie dwell.
Truthfully, there’s only one requirement: you have to go looking during a really bad storm.-
A spring storm washes ashore something that shouldn't exist: an injured, silent mermaid-like sea creature.
Mira, who operates the town's lighthouse, is the one who finds it. Zoey, a soon-to-be marine biologist with far too much curiosity and not enough sense, helps to understand it. Caring for something straight out of a storybook proves more complicated than expected, especially in a quiet oceanside town where strange things don’t stay hidden for long. -

Summary
Zoey will not convince herself their brand new, fantastic house is haunted.
“Mira, really. I’m not seeing any mice” Zoey says, straightening and turning off her phone flashlight. “I’m sure it was just a squeaky floorboard-”

Zoey jumps with a scream but she doesn’t react as strongly as Mira who fully shoves herself into Zoey’s arms and nearly makes the younger girl collapse and drop to the hard wood. Zoey only staggers and swears, her legs shaking.
