OR: Low on fuel, the Statesman is forced to stop at a nearby planet. Thor, Val, Korg, and Heimdall set out into the city, but upon finding out the Statesman is being attacked, return promptly. There, Thor finds Loki, injured critically.

Not just any Bucky Barnes either; one in a billion. The one Steve Rogers left behind. Even though he knows he shouldn't, even though it breaks all of his rules, Loki is drawn to him and decides to step in. Maybe he can do something to change the doomed course of Bucky's story. Maybe just this once it's okay if he doesn't know how the story ends.

The return of the exiled prince causes quite the upheaval at the Asgardian court. Perhaps some of it might have been avoided had the prince in question adopted an attitude of modesty, or better yet, displayed an air of repentance for his past mistakes – but alas there is none to be detected in his proud countenance. Loki walks the crowded halls of the golden castle with his head held high, triumphant in his victory. For it is a victory. The Allfather cast him out, and now he has returned to his father’s house by securing the devotion of his heir, the favored son, the one born and bred to carry on the dynasty who, despite everything they tried to instill in him about duty and honor, only has eyes for his brother. While Loki has tasted power before, nothing comes close to this.

But Thor refuses to accept this cruelty.
