and of the vow that began it all.I always thought it was too painful that Lloyd had to bear those visions alone.
I wrote this hoping Javier would come to know that burden too —
and that it might save them both, even just a little.Written as a continuation of the emotions from my earlier work, “Oath of the Waning Moon.”

Or: Lloyd's eager to take advantage of reduced tax rates for wedded couples, and makes it know that he's in the market for a spouse of convenience. Javier, his trusty knight and newly appointed Fronteran marriage broker, will surely find him a suitable candidate... any... day... now.......

He wakes. He wakes to something far worse than a nightmare. He wakes to a voice that rings within his ears every time he takes a whiff of alcohol. He’s heard it every night for years upon years except now it is far worse than a memory. This is reality.
His jaw clenches, the slightest tremble in his hands growing stronger and stronger as the man steps closer.
“Oi,” his tone is different, Javier notes, older, somehow even more irritating and- maybe he really is delusional for thinking this -concerned, “I’m being serious, are you alright?”
He grips his sword.
Maybe this really is an illusion after all.
