It almost felt like everyone at Ferrari, except for the drivers themselves, didn’t even want to win anymore and just chill the fuck out on the legacy the team held.
The team he wanted to drive for since he was a little boy, the team he had lied about having a contract with to his dying father, the team he thought he could fulfill Jules’ destiny with.
The team that had almost ultimately failed him, like he now failed in helping Max win his fifth championship. Charles had been the only possibility for Max to not only win the race, but take the championship home with him as well - and he had failed at a job so dumbly simple, and couldn’t do it.
Just couldn’t.

Summary
“You’ll thank Max for me, yeah?” Carlos asks, still catching his breath. His hand wanders and he thumbs over where Charles is swollen and used before giving one last pat to the back of his thigh.
Charles’ already red face heats with a fresh pulse of humiliation. He nods his head instead of speaking. Slowly, he gets himself turned around, trying to avoid the largest of the mess. Carlos is raking a hand through his own dark locks and looking at Charles thoughtfully, almost ruefully. “I can never make you come without bringing him up,” he comments.
His stomach swoops and he reaches for a nearby towel, something to put over his lap for the moment. He tentatively nods while picking at a thread in the hem of the towel before wincing and saying, “I know.”

Summary
After Port Townsend, Edwin tries to handle not only the fallout from his unrequited love confession, but also the inconvenient longing the Cat King has evoked in him. When Charles kisses him out of the blue, it sends them spiralling down a confusing path of lust and self-discovery.
To make matters worse, their newest case turns out to be more complicated and demanding than they initially thought. Together with Niko and Crystal, they set out to help Will, a ghost who wants them to matchmake for his still living boyfriend, so he can move on to the afterlife.
Their investigation leads them from cutely bespoke bookshops to gay clubs, and as far as the Dreaming, forcing them to confront some truths about themselves and step out of their comfort zone, once and for all.
