Summary
Hueso always hated his skin. It was wrong in ways he couldn’t articulate as a child. Everything about his skin was wrong.
It began as a child. Small things at first, barely noticeable. He hated the way it scraped when he fell, which is natural for most children. He hated the way it bled, the way it pulled when he turned, the way it was the sole thing responsible for keeping himself together. But he didn’t think about it constantly as a child, able to play pirates with Piel and watch his father work and sit nicely in church with a smile on his face.

Summary
The fog looked wrong. It was thick like smoke, and moved slowly but surely with an uncanny insistence. Like it had a purpose. It felt like good CGI in a movie, and Leo tripped face-first into the water when the fog started retreating faster than it had arrived. By the time he managed to splash himself into a standing position again, Donnie and Mikey were on the beach calling for Raph. Raph, who was… gone.

Summary
Raph was proud of his brothers. He really was. He grew up and got to watch all of them become so smart, so creative, so tactical. He’s proud of every art project Mikey shows with a gap-toothed smile, he’s proud of every invention Donnie pretends he doesn’t need validation for even if he doesn’t understand it, he’s even proud of all those high school chess tournaments Leo destroyed back in high school after a year and a half of pretending he was too cool for chess club. They were so, so talented, and he… was Raph. It only makes sense that they’d move on to bigger, better things.
If only that didn't somehow correlate to the constant fog and chill he feels, nowadays.

Summary
“I don’t like it when you call me that,” is what he ends up blurting out after an entire day of trying to plan the perfect way to approach the topic. But then Benzo had palmed the top of his head, shaking his entire body in that familiar way of his, and he felt warmth and sunshine spark on his tongue, but then Benzo said “Good night, Little Lady,” and the warmth sputtered out and he couldn’t stop himself from speaking.
Benzo reeled back a little, blinking some, before looking a bit hurt. “Ah, sorry,” he chuffed. He was always a little awkward when it came to feelings, but he loved him, and he’d bear through this conversation for as long as he wanted to have it.
“It’s just-” he sputtered, like a dying light, before the spark caught and he could continue his train of thought- “I’m not.”
“Not little?” Benzo raised an eyebrow all the way down at him, several feet between the two of them in height, which, rude, but so not the point right now.
“A lady.”

Just read and research supernatural claims filed by people that say they've been attacked by ghosts or seen a boogeyman at 3AM. Nothing too difficult! She just needs to make sure not to mess up the only job she's had for more than a week in her entire life. No pressure or anything.

Or, ROTTMNT TMA AU where April's the Head Archivist, Donnie and Mikey are Archive Assistants, Draxum is the Head of the Institute, and most of the villains from TMNT are Avatars, Entities or Encounters. A few original characters show up, but they're all statement givers with no major bearing on the plot who are absolutely just here to talk about actual characters from the show.

Bruce doesn’t know what’s wrong with his child, but he’s pretty sure kids aren’t meant to work like this.
From the day he had looked up into the tops of the circus tent and saw a frightened mirror image of a boy who had just experienced the worst day of his life, Bruce had instantly gone into emergency mode.
The Gotham PD had wanted to pass the boy off into the care of the circus. The circus had mumbled underneath their breaths about superstitions, about not having a boy like that with them, about not being able to handle something like Dick. So GCPD, not knowing what to do, had started talking about one of the handful of overburdened boy homes that handles a majority of Gotham’s unlucky orphans.
All the while, the camera lights flash bright and loud, wanting to know everything.
Bruce couldn’t let that happen.
Not then, not ever again.
