Summary
“What is this, bring your kid to work day?” a deep, bored voice cuts through the ringing fear in his head. The three men turn towards the speaker immediately, their backs straightening, their whole demeanor shifting almost like soldiers standing at attention. And it’s not like Jason’s ever personally heard Two-Face talk before, but there’s something about this guy’s voice that just takes command of the whole space immediately, demanding consideration like the only natural and safe reaction to him speaking is to listen, and Jason’s pretty sure he knows who he’s going to see before he turns his head.

He's making these small, high, weak noises like he always does, as if he's not fucking Frank like an animal, head bowing just so to drip sweat all over Frank's tattooed chest. He keeps his pace up, stamina practiced, but he lets out a little laugh.
"The fuck are you laughing at?" Frank slurs.
Ray shakes his head.
"What?" Frank asks.
Ray beams down at him with one hand gripping hard onto Frank's hip. "You're so small."

Frankie kept telling himself this wasn’t the worst life a person could have.
It helped if he listed things. He did that a lot, in his head. Okay: he wasn’t starving. His stomach grumbled sometimes, sure, but he always found a way to get a bowl of noodles or some other cheap shit from the stand three blocks from the station, or could heat a can in the workshop when the boss had already gone home. He had a stable job, which was way more than some of the guys he saw drifting through the outskirts, hollow-eyed and jittery, looking like they might sell a kidney for a clean glass of water. He had a roof over his head, technically.
So, you know. Not the worst.
It just also kind of sucked.
