After Lady makes the decision to follow orders despite her reservations, things quickly down spiral. Meanwhile Mundus is plotting humanity's demise and the US government is playing right into his hands. With Dante on (literal) ice, Nelo (aka Vergil) loyal to Mundus, and Lady (she goes by Mary for now) working under a warmonger with delusions of grandeur, there isn't much hope left.
With the fate of two worlds and the risk of mass geocide on both sides, its going to take more than one person to fix this mess.

She was the Ashen Demon. It was what Byleth had been known as most of her life, and she had come to accept that, perhaps she was a demon. Someone who killed when ordered to without second thought for the life taken. A doll that could swing a blade and obey without question. Her father and his mercenary band, their work, it had been the only link to her place in this life. That was until one fateful dawn, when three students attending Garreg Mach requested urgent aid from their mercenary band for protection from a hoard of bandits.
Being thrust into a teaching position, a simple professor would have been a lot more easy if it hadn't been for the sudden and constant nightmares that kept her awake at night. Visions or memories of other lives, of familiar faces, and the constant choking fear that something terrible was going to happen to the people who gave her a new purpose to exist.

Years later, a request is made to enact the arranged marriage of King Dimitri and Byleth, by an uncle who most certainly has his nephew's best interests at heart. Despite her initial grievances about the situation- and the stories of a king more similar to wolves than men- Byleth finds herself enjoying his company. He's kind, morally just, and good-humored, despite his sometimes-odd behavior. Surely her unorthodox upbringing and lack of social awareness won't hinder her ability to see the red flags that surround the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus.
