She wakes up to a strange exciting warmth running through her body and a strong arm tightly clasping around her waist. It isn’t that unusual to feel her father lay an arm around her, even if it is a bit tight at the moment. They had cuddled up since she was a little child. She is aware this isn’t typical behaviour for family members, but as long as he doesn’t hurt her it is all fine. They just have a closer connection and wandering hands while sleeping aren’t such a big deal. Neither of them ever brings it up during the day or acknowledges it during the night.

Summary
Before Shane's move back to Ottawa, Ilya had never mentioned to him about Anya being scared of storms. Or even that she was remotely sensitive to loud noises. And- he can’t be sure, but- he feels like it’s stormed at least a time or two since he first moved in. And the dog had been totally, completely fine.
So, it’s certainly out of nowhere when- all of a sudden- the first flash of lightning followed by a loud crash of thunder sends her scrambling. The poor dog will start running, nails scraping across the tile of the kitchen floor or the pads of her paws catching on the threads of the living room carpet as she vaults herself, panicked, towards whichever one of them happens to be closest.
Ilya is, of course, distraught about the development.
