Summary
In the modern world, most mages are wizards who must formally study their magic. Sorcerers, natural and powerful magic-users, are increasingly rare and prized as a result.
When the Kurta Clan are slaughtered for the power of their blood, Kurapika is the sole survivor. He faces a stark choice: revenge against his family's murderers - or turning to forbidden magic, Necromancy, to pull their souls out of the afterlife. He chooses the latter - but he's going to need help. So he turns to Leorio, a white mage/med student who works in the local morgue, for help with magically preserving his clan's bodies.
Kurapika fully intends to sacrifice himself during the ritual. One life for 128 is more than fair. But Leorio doesn't agree. Over the years of preparation, he tries to convince Kurapika that his life is actually worth living.
