Summary
Bumi has never found the eight years between him and Tenzin to be significant. Sometimes it feels like no time at all, and he has an eleven year old brother with a sarcastic sense of humour dryer than the Si Wong Desert, who thinks the funniest thing to do is blow air up Bumi’s shirts in public and muss up his hair.
And sometimes, it feels like decades span between them. Sometimes Bumi has to remind himself that Tenzin is still a child who does immature and childish things, like being a smart ass about some historical fact or another, or how he likes to cheat during their sparring practice using his bending.
Then Tenzin gets hurt for the first time during airbending training, and Bumi can only stand and watch.

“And here I thought you were just a handsome face.” It took Aang a moment to realise that Katara was talking to Appa and not to him. It took significantly longer for his heart to understand the same thing, and it hammered against his chest with a rapid rhythm. “Such a brave boy.” She looked up at Aang again and added, somewhat shyly, “You’re very brave, too.”
“Oh, I—thank you. So are you.”
He had no idea why he’d said that.
When volunteer search and rescue handler Aang takes Appa to the new vet in town, he doesn't anticipate coming face-to-face with the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. It starts with an awkward appointment and, somewhere along the way, turns into coffee dates and late-night calls.
Then a callout goes wrong. Suddenly, it's not just his heart on the line.

Katara has one year. One year of freedom in Republic City before she becomes some important man's wife, and if life has taught her anything, it's that powerful men don't see women as people. Aang has one day. One day off from being the Avatar, the Last Airbender, the martyr carrying an entire nation's future on his back. Aang is no stranger to desire, but this feels new, nearly carnal, every time his pretty wife with her hand placed on the gentle swell of her stomach asks him for a favour. Aang hasn’t felt so… needed by her, and it’s awakened something awful in him.

Summary
The moon hung low in the sky, a few days away from its fullness, but Katara could feel its effects already. She tried to ignore them as much as she could during the day – and it worked to an extent, but the nights were worse. With nothing distracting her, she could almost taste the heaviness of it, the rapid beating of her heart and the intensity of the air.
Was it always this difficult to breathe?
