The ground under his feet started shifting, solid sand giving way to unstable rubber, a zap of electricity coursing through his entire body and channeling into Kikoku - not Shock Wille, not how he usually used his powers, but something else, something foreign .

Louder and louder and louder and Law felt like laughing almost, laughing like he knew Luffy had laughed in his Gear 5th form because this was freedom, this was power, this was going to bring Teach down and save his friends. No matter that they were all battered, that the Tang was damaged, at least in this way they would survive.

It should have been impossible unless Dragon was not only a shitty father but also had shitty tastes in women, but the body curled around him, rumbling in something that was half caught between a growl and a purr, felt too much like Luffy for Ace to be able to deny what has happening in front of his own eyes.

The dragon, because it was a dragon no matter how much Ace wanted to say it wasn't, rumbled back at him and yeah that was his little brother. His little brother who was a dragon.
Don't think of the implications Ace.
Who no one could try to kill now because everyone knew what it meant when someone had a dragon shift.
Anyone but Luffy probably.
"GARP!" echoed from somewhere and on this Ace at least could agree with that bastard fleet admiral. If Gramps knew about this he was going to punch him straight in the face.

The thing is she always was.
Ever since Captain got her in a bet, ever since he poured his love to tend to her, ever since she got to know Deuce and Banshee and Skull and Mihar and them. She's always been angry; because she loves her crew even if they chose another captain and another ship, but her Captain was angry when he got her. An angry child that grew in an angry teenager hiding his anger with a veneer of politeness and now he is an angry young man dying for the sins of another.

Sengoku had said something, slurred it more like and had moved to make a promise. To always have Garp's back in missions perhaps, or something similar. He didn't get to finish his words; Garp had stopped him mid-way and with more seriousness than he had ever before and after showed, demanded in no uncertain terms that Sengoku should never promise him anything.
"D promises are different. You don't wanna go make one randomly. And never to me, got it?"
Promises to the bearers of the Will of D are binding even beyond Death. Garp still makes one.

Karai Bari was supposed to be safe. Safe and secure and free of overdramatic idiots. Hence why Buggy felt he was very much entitled to his reaction when he saw the World's Greatest Swordsman lounging in his tent.
"How the flashy fuck did you find me here?" Buggy screeched, keeping himself from coming apart just through sheer muscle memory alone. He had not been expecting Mihawk anytime soon - or ever preferably -, especially since he had gone to great lengths to hide exactly what island he had holed up on.
But nooo, he returned to his office and just had to find the swordsman sitting at his desk pretty as you please, sipping the only drink Buggy had around. Which wasn't even half-bad, making the clown pirate quite irate that half the bottle was already gone.
"I asked Shanks." Mihawk answered.
He asked. He asked Shanks. Buggy was going to strangle his dumbass brother. What the flashy fuck? He barely managed to get rid of Crocodile, his soulmate more awkward than Buggy had ever seen him in his life, switching between being his usual antagonistic self and almost praising him, and just when the pirate clown thought he was flashy fine his brother outed his location to Mihawk.

Someone stopping by? Sending him up? His brows furrowed, confusion clear. Who the hell would be visiting him? And Shakky just letting him in? Letting him into his room without even asking him? He turned, narrowing his eyes down at her, but she had already turned away and he knew he was getting zero answers out of that stubborn woman.
Rayleigh sighed, deep and tired. Whatever, he didn’t care, Shakky had probably called some doctor to fuss over him, or maybe if he was lucky Red or Blue were around and visiting. Whatever it was was a future Rayleigh problem though, because current Rayleigh was just about ready to sleep for the next ten fucking years.

Sabo took what felt like the hundredth deep breath of the day, and finally jumped off of his already tied up boat onto the railing of one of the most infamous pirate ships around.
Someone screeched, and he saw a man —Vista? He was pretty sure that was his name— trip over his own two feet and faceplant in, apparently, pure surprise. It was kind of valid, despite having thought about his entrance for over two hours, Sabo hadn’t really chosen the best option. But in his defense, he wasn’t sure there was a best option, or even a good one for that matter.
“Ah… hello,” very smooth, “I’m not here to pick a fight,” a great continuation, truly. Koala would have hit him so damn hard if she had heard.

.The war went a little different. The papers did not report it all that differently though, and Sabo is determined to figure it out.

The pain was increasing, he could barely hear Bepo by his side, calling for someone or another, his body shook, ears ringing, and then he was throwing up.
Someone yelped, hands grabbed at him, he tasted blood. Fuck it hurt. It hurt like a bitch.
Penguin gagged, heaving out desperate breaths through the pain and the nausea. He could only hope the Straw Hats doctor could figure something out, because he was pretty sure he was dying and he’d rather live a bit longer.
Hands tried to drag him up, he wished he could help, but his limbs felt like jelly, whatever the hell it was it was strong, his head was swimming, the world disappearing, more and more distorted.
His leg caught on something.
The last thing he heard was the sound of his own scream.

“Are you scared they will think negatively of you?” Her voice was gentle, no judgement nor concern. Something in her tone made Sanji feel safe, he wanted to throw his arms around her and confess everything he had been feeling. “Do you really think they will judge you? After everything we’ve been through?”
Her words held so much truth it stung. She was right, of course she was right. The simple, deadpan way she laid it out for him made Sanji feel stupid. Like he was silly for every worrying about that. But it didn’t stop his fear, it didn’t make any of this any less confusing or scary.

He's proud of his son. He is. Even though their chosen paths are at odds, he knows what drives him. He respects Dragon's commitment to doing what he believes is right.
He also can't regret where life has taken them because if his son had stayed, he wouldn't have had Luffy, and Luffy is a singular blessing. He is an absolute joy—a pain in the ass as well but one well worth the hassle.

Garp knew something had to change. Between Luffy’s new Devil Fruit powers and newfound dream of piracy, it was only a matter of time before trouble found him. Foosha Village with its well-meaning residents would not be able to keep him safe. So to the wilds of Mt. Colubo Luffy will go. There, he will brave new challenges and hopefully make a friend or two.
But before that, Garp has a promise to fulfill to a man’s he’s never even met.

Okay, this felt familiar. Felt like Marineford two years ago when he had answered that asshole's question without meaning to, but at that time he had been more interested in making sure both Ace and Luffy made it out alive. Not that the brats hadn't giving him enough frights for a lifetime until they did.
Buggy sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. He had to test it.
"Anything wrong, clown?" Mihawk asked as he uncorked a bottle of Dreessrosa red wine. Some aged vintage that the former warlord swore by and Buggy personally believed tasted like old socks.
Try a lie.
"Your wine is-" the best I have ever tasted, he wanted to say, but what ended up was. "I don't know how you can drink that vinegar, Hawkeyes. It smells like something died in the barrel and the colour's gone muddy."
Well. Fucking Grandline. Cursed coins it was. And apparently ones who made him tell the truth. He'd simply have to stay as far away from his partners as possible until whatever this was ran its course.
