Summary
Looking back, it made perfect sense.
There were little discrepancies scattered throughout the timeline of Tony's life: a house that he doesn't remember buying, an empty room that he'd set aside but no longer knew what for, months of missing data in Jarvis's database.
None of it made sense. Perhaps, it was the drugs?
(He ignored the fact that, for 5 years, he wasn't in any magazines. No front page with his arms wrapped around models; no stories of his escapades. Nothing.)

Summary
Harry Potter was very lonely. Yes, he had friends, a good job, and just finished his mastery in defense, but it was usually just him and his son all alone at night when everyone else had families and lives apart from them. When he learned by chance that he may actually have some living family, it should have been an easy decision to reach out to them. Unfortunately, nothing comes easily to Harry. Harry's biological father just had to be the most difficult person in the world to get a meeting to see, and the absolutely most suspicious when confronted with a paternity claim.
Tony Stark was very lonely. He and Pepper had recently broken up. His friends had betrayed him, and he was now forced to live with the very same people who had hurt him. He didn't think he could take one more blow and stay standing under it. Tony didn't have family; he didn't know what to do with family; too bad Tony's family wasn't sure what to do with him either, but they were going to give it a hell of a try anyway.
