The Fab Four had done what they set out to do that day, protecting the kid with everything they had was the only priority. ‘Even if we die trying,’ Party had said, the others vehemently agreeing.
They didn’t die, that would have been too merciful. No Exterminator would let a Killjoy die with their mask on, and Party Poison had made an enemy out of a particularly cruel one.
On special orders from Korse, the four were not reprogrammed.

"You...Are Emrys?" Arthur asked slowly. He turned to look back at Merlin who only offered a bright smile in return. It wasn't comforting. In fact, Arthur was fairly certain it was the same smile he gave when he returned Arthur's dirty laundry and tried to insist he washed it.
"I am." The man nodded solemnly "Though you may call me Alator."
Arthur had to fight to keep his face completely blank. Right. Fine. Okay. He held up a finger before gesturing Mordred a bit closer. The knight shuffled to his side, leaning in so he could hear when Arthur started whispering.
"What did this prophecy you keep mentioning say again?" He asked and when Mordred opened his mouth, held up a hand. "About me and Emrys."
"Oh," Mordred said and shrugged "You fall in love with him."
Arthur slowly turned back to Alator. Then back to Mordred.
"...are you sure?"

Alator lives. This sets off a series of events that include: Mordred coming forward as a druid, Arthur learning of the existence of Emrys, Merlin asking Alator to please pretend to be Emrys, Alator agreeing, and Mordred deciding the best revenge is convincing Arthur that he is destined to fall in love with a man older than his father.

“Merlin…” Arthur said as he slowly started to reach for his sword. “Don’t…Move…”
“No, no, no! Arthur, it’s alright!” Merlin said as he moved (because obviously he ignored Arthur’s orders and moved) in front of the desk. “She’s just saying hello!”
“That’s a dragon.” Arthur informed him. Merlin looked over his shoulder for a moment.
“No, it isn’t.”
There was a pause.
“Yes, it is.”
“No.” Merlin shook his head. “It…Uh, is not…A dragon.”
“Then what the Hell is it?!” Arthur asked, not letting his eyes drift away from the fire breathing demon. Yeah. That was definitely a dragon. Merlin clicked his tongue before also staring behind him.
“It is…A…Bird…”
There was another pause.
“You’re really sticking with that?”
“I am, thank you.”
Or
Merlin has to convince the King of Camelot that he is not, in fact, in possession of a dragon. Luckily, the rest of the kingdom has already been won over by the baby dragon and is quite willing to aid in this quest.

"How do you know that?"
Arthur closed his eyes, expression riddled with irritation before turning to look at Merlin expectantly.
"Know what?"
“The mare I use. You know I call her Daisy? I never told you that." Merlin explained. Arthur stared for a few moments. He could see the flicker of emotions pass easily over him. Anger, annoyance, exasperation, indignance, and finally acceptance...AKA the Five Stages of Grief (Pendragon Edition).
"You talk to the horse.” He pointed out. Merlin narrowed his eyes.
“I whisper to the horse."
"...am I supposed to not hear it?” Arthur asked. Merlin wondered how likely it would be that he also heard him whispering magical spells if he heard him murmuring to the bloody horse. “Also, only you would choose such a ridiculous name.” He muttered. Merlin swallowed. This wasn't a problem at all, right? Right.
Or
Merlin knows Arthur well. Better than he knew himself apparently. What he hadn't expected was for Arthur to know his servant just as well... This causes problems. (also known as "The Time Merlin Had a Mental Breakdown Over Arthur Being a Normal Human")

"No way. We can handle ourselves without Merlin for two days...Well, some of us can." He clicked his tongue with a nod towards the other three. Leon frowned.
"What are you trying to say?"
"That we didn’t grow up with servants," Elyan snorted "I know it’s a scary thought but...we can actually survive a hunt without Merlin’s stew." He said. Gwaine gasped in fake shock.
"We don’t need a servant," Arthur piped up immediately, chest puffing out in defiance "Hell, with how Merlin is, I’ve pretty much been without a servant for years!"
"Great!" Percival said and jerked his head "Then let’s go."

The knights go on a hunt without a servant because Merlin is sick. Obviously it goes fantastic.

“You-” Ygraine said, stepping up to point a finger in Uther’s face. “You are a liar and a murderer. The fact you think someone as sweet and caring as Vivienne is destined to marry you is a tragedy in itself, but if you expect me to hand over my brother’s rightful claim to Camelot’s throne-”
“My claim to Camelot’s throne,” Uther threw back, face growing more red as Arthur looked between his parents in utter bewilderment. Merlin didn’t blame him. He had envisioned Uther and Ygraine’s love story to be more… well, less based in war and battles.
Ygraine’s eyes narrowed as she grabbed a goblet of wine and threw it in Uther’s face. A few of the guards shifted, but Uther only raised a hand to pause them, spitting out the wine with furious eyes.
“You,” Ygraine said coldly. “Are unworthy to sit upon a stool, let alone a throne.”
From a few feet away, Balinor scoffed as he sipped from his own goblet. “I kind of like having her as a hostage, Uther. She livens up the place.”

In a desperate attempt to save Arthur at Camlann, Merlin tries to reverse time. It works perhaps a tad too well.

He didn’t even feel like a person talking to a prisoner, he felt more like a wildebeest looking into the eyes of a lion. That was why Jan’s eyes were lifeless, he was not a human at all but a predator.

Jesper and Wylan don't tell their children everything. Osbert get's suspended from school for letting his anger get the best of him and loosing control of his Squaller powers. He can't stop himself from blaming Wylan, his father, for it. If Wylan would have let him go to school in the little palace, then this never would have happened. Later on, a fight breaks out because of it and Osbert hates himself for the things he said to Wylan. He ends up finding old letters from his grandfather who he's never met before. He takes it upon himself to try and find him, to talk to him. Maybe if he can help salvage Wylan and Jan's relationship then him and his father can make up too.
Osbert did not realize just how blessed he was.
