The Beifeng, that mighty empire of the north, invaded more than a year ago, moving inexorably south and east, toppling the cities of Qinghe and Qishan, and now wait, camped outside of Lanling.
In order to buy peace, the chief of the Lan clan has given the Beifeng warlord a gift, his second oldest son in marriage.
However, he did not consult his oldest son, and when Xichen finds out that his brother has been given away, as though he was no more than a vase or painting, he makes a plan. He, too, can give a gift, and he will not regret it.
What he finds with the Beifeng, with the warlord, with the people he meets, and within himself, is not at all what he expects.

Summary
Frankenstein made his monster using the parts of stolen corpses. Lex Luthor made his with the stolen blood of Superman. Superboy, despite being very new to existence, isn’t sure that’s any better, even if Superman rescued him only a few weeks after his creation.
Except Kon’s rescue wasn’t a coincidence, and neither were the other spontaneous events changing the lives of superheroes all over the world. Kon might care more about growing up than the fate of the world, but fate will latch itself onto him whether he likes it or not.

Lan Jingyi doesn't know how the hell their perfectly ordinary plans to go to a perfectly ordinary concert turned into a life-threatening road trip filled with monsters, magical rocks, and a megalomaniac who keeps yelling about finding an evil overlord named something as corny as The Yiling Patriarch, but what he does know is that his parents must never ever find out.
Really, the only saving grace here is that they made new friends. Strange, probably-extremely-powerful, and definitely-not-human friends, but A-Yuan and his dad saved them and now they'll help them save Hanguang-Jun! As far as Lan Jingyi is concerned, that means he's ride-or-die for them forever.
