Summary
The Gryffindor dormitory was quiet except for the soft, steady breathing of four teenage boys and the occasional creak of the old castle settling.
Well, three boys sleeping.
Sirius Black was tangled in Remus Lupin’s bed, half-asleep, limbs flopped over Moony like a lazy dog seeking warmth. Remus, as usual, tolerated it with tired affection and mild grumbling.
Somewhere in the haze of almost-sleep, Sirius cracked one eye open. A vague feeling tugged at him. Something about... Prongs. Where the hell was Prongs? He never came back from patrol.
With a groan, Sirius fished out the worn, beloved Marauder’s Map from the nightstand, tapped it with his wand, muttering through a yawn,
“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good...”The ink spread across the parchment in neat lines, tiny footsteps moving across the castle.
“Let’s see, where’s the idiot stag now— Astronomy Tower...” Sirius blinked sleepily, yawning again—
—and froze.
James Potter.
Regulus Black.Two tiny names. Alone. In the Astronomy Tower.
Moving.
Up.
Down.
Up.
Down.“...the fuck?” Sirius whispered, suddenly very awake.

Summary
He didn't know why he did it, maybe it was anger, maybe it was curiosity, but, impulsively, James leaned in closer to Barty’s face, his lips grazing the shell of his ear as he whispered soft, teasing words, all the while keeping eye contact with Remus. Barty's breath hitched at the sudden lick at his ear and groaned at the following rough bite at his earlobe. Without wasting a second, Crouch, still unknowing of Remus’ presence, pushed James into the wall, pulling the boy’s ankles close to his ears and pounded away, directly into James’ sweet spot.
Or
James’ two best friends/crushes (more like the loves of his life, you can only like someone for so many years until you have to admit it’s more than just a crush) were dating each other, leaving him lonely and with way too much free time. He had to find his way of coping, and it just so happened that Crouch was in need of coping too.

Summary
Regulus Black and Barty Crouch Jr. escaped their abusive families by moving in with their boyfriend, Evan Rosier. Sirius Black left with them, and they'd been safe ever since. This shift was only possible because the Rosier family was filthy rich, and financially could rescue the children. In addition, Axel and Adele Rosier were wonderful parents, loving each of the boys as their own.
James Potter was dirt-poor. His family tried to emigrate from Mexico to the US, but they were rejected at the country border. Now, they lived in France and Effie and Monty owned a small restaurant to keep their family afloat. James works there as a waiter after school and on the weekends.
OR
Evan, Regulus, and Barty are filthy rich, and James was dirt-poor. Their paths cross, and they fall in love, per usual.

James Potter was perfect (depending on who you asked).
Quidditch captain, pure blood heir (without being a racist bitch), top of his class, charming, extrovert, cute smile, attractive... Like really gorgeous it hurts you.
He even changed from who he was, redemption arc and all that shit. Which was even more infuriating to some.
The guy was perfect and it damn hurts.
So, naturally, people assumed he would be an alpha. Your picture-perfect dominant alpha that any one would love. Stereotypes (and expectations) at the end of the day.
But then he passed presentation age and nothing happened.
Now he is 16-17, sixth year, and of course the guy had to have the most dramatic presentation. (Finally!)
Except he didn't present as alpha.
