    Reinhard stares up at him. Subaru looks alive. He looks fine. He’s not bloody or writhing or wane or dead. He’s just standing there, looking at Reinhard awkwardly and scratching his arm. He looks concerned, even. He doesn’t look like he’s looking at a monster.

But after Otto manages to convince him to publish it, it becomes an unexpected hit. Practically all of Subaru's friends have read it, and have their own strong opinions to share.

    "I think we need to talk about your sadism problem," Felix mentioned. "Why do you keep torturing the main character?"
