Niki could say a lot in response to that quote now fed back to him; that James' own dæmon is some puffed up, squawking budgerigar whose colours are clearly compensatory. 'Centipedes are myriapods,' is what he instead responds with, 'which are not considered part of the insect class.'
It's true; they're not. Nevertheless, it seems to win him no favours.
(For want of a nail: Ani wants James, Birdie wants Niki. You can hardly deny what the soul demands, no matter how long it takes to get there.)

Popular opinion is the only opinion. Hawks knows nothing but indoctrination. Shinsō nothing but discrimination. Fumikage is cynical. Himiko is hunted. Dabi is so very tired.
The world is changing, and there's very little Hawks can do to stop it before the crescendo.
