But it wasn’t true. He loved Lestat so much he sometimes felt like the weight of it crushed him. He could hardly breathe, sometimes, blindsided by his love for Lestat, could feel it swirling inside of him, trying to make its way out, ready to split his skin open with how powerful it was. Louis hadn’t always been honest about it but it had always been true nevertheless.
or, Louis doesn't tell Lestat he loves him enough. He decides to change that.

“Just, please, Frank.” She was looking up at him, her eyes huge and wet and so full of a mixture of love, devotion and fear. Her hands were gripping the front of his shirt and when Frank put his own over hers they were shaking, just slightly. Distinctly he could hear two stray cats fighting outside, as well as the steady hum of the old fridge Mel had brought over from her old place. He felt like he was going mad .
“Take care of me. Make me feel good. ” She leaned into him, pressing herself into his arms with all of her weight. He steadied her by her hips. He was probably squeezing her too hard, she would probably have bruises tomorrow but it was taking all of his energy to not do something far far more drastic. Mel got close enough that her lips were touching his ear and Frank felt a full body shiver move through him as her hot breath hit him. It was nothing more than a whisper. “Just be nice to me.”
Or, Mel and Frank go to Trinity’s birthday. Mel’s dress drives Frank insane. Mel drinks too much and has her needs. One thing leads to another.

“Well, I guess it’ll be just the two of us! I will pick you up at 9 a.m. at the university. Let me know if that is fine with you.”
Louis stared at the text on his phone, wondering how his life had led up to that. He was a good Catholic boy! Well, used to be one, anyways, before his “lifestyle” had become too incompatible with the church and consequently his family. So maybe that was his punishment then. Because no way was spending five hours locked in a car with his professor. With just his professor.
Or, when Louis has no one else to go to a famous author’s book-signing event with, his professor is ever so helpful

And yet, despite this, a sense of unease crept up his spine at those words. It would seem wrong, he thought, unnatural, even dirty to be called that now. Like those words were only reserved for New Orleans, for who Claudia had been back then, who he had been.

Things change when Lestat makes him a tempting offer, and Louis sacrifices himself to provide for his family when they’re in need.

Louis rolls his eyes. He tries to seem unaffected, but he knows his breathing is still harsh. “Don’t bother me again. I’ll have you thrown out.”
Lestat leans into his space, casual in his intrusion. “Will you?”
Louis can’t actually throw out Lestat, not for anything he’s done so far. If Tom knew he was threatening to boot a rich customer over this, he’d shout himself hoarse. But Lestat doesn’t know that. Probably.
“Yes. I can and I will.”
Lestat’s hand wraps around Louis’ left wrist, and his grip is firm, proprietary. Louis tries to pull away, but he can’t budge Lestat’s hand. He feels panic start to creep in, insidious.
“Ah, ah, ah, it’s alright, chéri, I won’t hurt you.”

Summary
Louis is a successful Hollywood actor, well on his way to becoming household name. Cast in romantic drama that takes place in France during the summer, Louis hopes this role will be the one to score him an Oscar nomination. His hopes are dashed when he finds out that the rock star Lestat has been cast as his love interest. Unable to take Lestat seriously because he isn't a "real" actor, the two begin to clash on set despite the pull they feel towards each other.

Summary
There actually aren’t that many birds in Nevada. Not that much gardening, either. What there is is a lot of fucking. Fucking and feeding and surprisingly little fighting. Neither of them actually has much of a green thumb, it turns out, but evening primrose is extremely easy to care for. Louis likes the fantasy of it, though, of remaking the acres of land they now have. Of learning how to get dirty, how to work for something real.
