Summary
The war was now over, leaving Zuko to take up the mantle of Fire Lord in order to lead his people and the world into a state of harmony with the help of Aang and his newfound family.
His days were filled with constant streams of paperwork and meetings, occupied by demands and requests from various connections he had built during his reign. Life became stagnant, feeling himself settle into a rut while growing tired of the whispers of an heir circulating around the palace.
He chose to focus to move onto the next task - creating a tether with the Northern Water Tribe. The duty would prove to be much greater than anyone had anticipated considering the long-term damage caused by his father.
However, it wouldn't be the headstrong elders or the rigorous journey to the fortress that would make matters more difficult for him.
It would be meeting you.

This must be another repentance to pay for the sins of his forebearers. If a man is but a dustgrain in the palm of god, then it must simply be within the confines of his moira to suffer for his country. Heavy is the head, after all. But has the young king not suffered enough? Zuko wonders how much more of himself he has left to give before he withers to ash.
Then he meets a girl ensnared in enough secrets to bury her alive, and discovers that her fate entangle with his. If only misfortune binds them, then they will learn to find solace in each other until slowly, softly, they learn to break free.

Raiko was raised to become a wife. That was what her father always told her. She had no other purpose in life but to bring honour to her family, because she dared to be born a woman. Her parents were old, and they could only have her. Thus, when the Fire Lord’s Council sent a letter to all the noble families of the nation, stating that they ought to present their daughters because the Fire Lord was looking for a wife, Raiko’s father saw his golden chance. She obeyed like a good daughter, but Raiko wasn’t naive or submissive at all. She wouldn’t become someone else’s wife without a fight.
And Lord Zuko had no idea that she would become his favourite pain in the ass...
