Summary
In which Spencer sends his daughter to his former mentor rather than Alyssa, hoping Miranda can take care of her while mistakenly assuming she's found a way to bring back Eva already. Miranda has not. So now she's got a random human toddler who's very resistant to viruses and diseases running around her lab trying to pick up scalpels. Chaos ensues as she tries to make sure the blatant favouritism she is showing to Grace doesn't cause a rift among the lords, or worse, become a weakness that her enemies might attempt to exploit.
She would have a much easier time with that if her child was not constantly swooning over Alcina's oldest daughter whenever they were in the same room.
(This fic will be updated a couple times a week, as much as I loved doing the daily updates of Viticulture ya girl needs to pace herself a bit better, especially with all the other ones I'm working on.)

Summary
Rumi touched her fingers to her ribs. She could feel the heat radiating from her skin, even through her clothes. A distant, miserable part of her said, this is going to hurt.
She pushed her fingers down.
The rib shifted.
The thing about telling one very big lie is that it requires a foundation of hundreds of smaller lies to hold it up, lies such as "I'm fine," and "nothing's broken," and "it doesn't hurt."
Rumi finds this out the hard way.

“Everyone said there was nothing left in the Aerie spire, that’s why I -” The woman's mouth snapped shut quickly, eyes slightly panicked as she watched Imogen for any visible reaction. When none came, she swallowed, and her next question, while hesitant, had much more quiet, hopeful curiosity. “What is this place?”
“Oh,” said Imogen, laughing a little sheepishly. The sound seemed to soothe some of the woman’s unease, her tensely coiled body unfurling ever so slightly, the knit of her eyebrows softening. Imogen, meanwhile, dropped back onto her haunches, offering the woman the post-apocalypse version of her customer service smile: something more sincere, the pull at the corners of her lips gentler, more open, the exhaustion in her eyes a desperate plea for connection. “Welcome to Starpoint Books,” she said. “My name is Imogen. What story are you lookin’ for today?”

Summary
The thing about habitat conservation was that it focussed, primarily, on time. To most people it was a study of nature and animals and how to ensure ecological populations thrived, and that was true to an extent. But at the heart of it all was the ever-present tick of the clock, the forward momentum of the universe, the steady increase in entropy as years passed by. She spent every day of her life following trajectories and mapping changes, one eye on the past and one on the future, so she ought to have seen this moment coming. And yet, somehow, she just… hadn’t.
