Nothing changed about Loki's expression. No air brushed against Fandral’s armour, his lips did not even part. He simply rested there, held limp in Fandral's arms. The usual somewhat reassuring cold of Loki's body was now a horrifying reminder. Loki was dead. Loki was gone, now, forever. Fandral would never hear him speak again.
His bottom lip trembled. He'd never carry Loki like this again. Not over the altar when they got their first home, nor out of the great hall after their wedding. They'd never wed. Loki couldn't retain the breath to say 'I do'.
