Summary
“‘S your bed. Wouldn’t be fair for you to sleep on the couch.” He shifts, moving you so that you were laying on your sides, facing each other. He pushes his face into the crook of your neck, his cold nose tickling you every time he breathes in.
You push on his chest, looking him in the eyes, “But, I can’t let you sleep on the couch…”
“Then… Then, we both stay here.”
~~~
You clean up your stranger’s wounds by firelight. Afterwards, he doesn’t wanna spent the night alone, and who are you to deny him such a simple request?
Summary
Varang has taken to watching you. A lot.
It feels… challenging. Or appraising, maybe.
You avoid her to the best of your ability. You can’t look at her without thinking of the way she and Quaritch have gotten so much closer recently. They spend most of the day together; ostensibly talking strategy, but you see the way their touches linger. Even the way they look at each other like they’re the only two people in the world, as though everything else is just background noise.
But as the days pass, you realise something. When she’s not watching Quaritch with those bright, lamp-like eyes, she’s watching you.
Bookmarker's Notes
The arranged/forced marriage trope is a hit or miss with me but god this fic. It's an AU that somehow incorporated the bleakness and nationalism of the source material, properly included some devastating consequences and stakes, and gave so many complex characters that don't feel OOC (and oddly enough, that includes the reader and her internal thoughts).
Erwin being a literal menace to the detriment of his health and life but to the benefit of society is canon accurate af and I'm cackling at the fact that it rarely works in his favor when he tries the reader. That man is stress lmao
And with all of that, the romance really was... Startlingly realistic in the best way possible. There's historical, literature, and art references that don't feel heavy handed at all
I know I'll be coming back to reread this in the future
Summary
People don't meet each other at community centers, despite your mother's insistence otherwise. But when you arrive after work to start your unfortunate task of using up last year's Christmas present before the year ends, you encounter a man at reception with dark hair and piercing eyes and realize that, damn it, maybe they actually do.
Summary
Sakura’s always found meaning in the most hopeless of situations. It’s what got her through the hard days, the long nights, the years and years of waiting for Sasuke. So she pulls meaning out of thin air in this moment as she slowly stands and steps away from the man, unconscious but undoubtedly alive: he needed her, badly. She was simply brought to the place where she could save him.
Sakura, Levi, and the choices they make.
