Cole had to help handle it all, with focus, guidance and the look of surety and calmness on his face, even when he felt everything. The earth was still screaming in his head, scratching at his skull, unyielding and ever-present.
Then the world starts to shake, and Cole finds himself on the floor beside his bed. He's bruised, he doesn't remember how he got there.
He's watching Sora and Lloyd train under the bright light of the sun, and then he's inside, on a couch, staring up at the ceiling with fog coating his brain, a bitten tongue, and the taste of iron in his mouth.

"'Well, I figured we should probably talk about last night," Nya replies, a certain knowing quality to her words that makes Jay feel like he is very much missing something. Last night? Nothing happened last night. He barely managed to stay awake on the way home, stumbled into the Monastery with all the grace of someone trying spinjitzu for the first time, said goodnight to everyone, then promptly passed out as soon as he hit his bed. What is there to even talk about? A quiet, unsettled unease washes over Jay, wrapping around his skin and sinking into his stomach.
“Uh, yeah, last night,” Jay says, tone so unsteady and unconvinced that it completely betrays his feeble attempt at feigning to be in the know.
“Yeah, you know, how you kissed Cole goodnight instead of me,” Nya deadpans."

Summary
Becoming a ghost wasn't the end. It wasn't some beginning, either. Rather, it was just the next phase of Cole's life. And, sure as the moon in the sky, that comes with ups and downs, forming and fading, waxing and waning.
Love and loss.
Some things would never be the same again. The moon wouldn't always shine.
But he'd never have to face the darker days alone. Not with his family lighting the way.

Where Childe seems determined to get to know Diluc, Diluc is trying to pack away his internal monologue and remind himself that this is it: this is the life he was given, and this is the life he deserves. “You’re more restless tonight.”
He tries not to turn and look at some of the overly-familiar scars adorning Diluc’s skin as he speaks. “I didn’t mean to wake you. Just lost in thought.”
Diluc’s refute is near instant, even while sleep remains in arm’s reach: “That’s unusual for you.”
Often, the tenderness that comes from a dark sky is softer with Diluc. More hesitant. Childe tends to guide his hands in the dark, remind him that he's allowed to hold on for the entirety of the evening. Drags Diluc's fingers up to Childe's own cheeks, or across his wrist to feel his pulse. No, mornings are not their only moment of rest. Every moment they have alone is precious, tucked away somewhere safe in Childe's heart, behind his ribcage and his flesh. It’s simply that dawn carries hope in it’s open, generous palms, while nightfall nurses feelings to fruition indiscriminately—and tonight in particular, as Childe stares out at Mondstadt through Diluc's windows, he thinks on how none of what he sees is actually his.
