But Dean could tell Cas was genuinely wondering, probably thinking about the handful of people that he had met whilst being on Earth and considering whether he would actually want to get to know any of them in any sort of casual situation.
Then the words were forming in Dean's mouth and spoken into the air before he could give it any real thought of consequence. “I could ask you.”

Dean should have known all those months ago.
Maybe some part of him should have known that it would end this way from the beginning.
That's the thing about crashes though.
As much as it feels like they're instantaneous, it takes a long time for you to build up to it.
It starts when you get in the car.
It starts when the rain begins to pour and slick up the road.
It starts when you press on the accelerator hard and don’t let up.
And later you look back and you want to scream 'Hit the Brakes!', But it's never that easy.
Car crashes are more than just a moment. They're a fatal attraction. It’s a force pulling you and something else together faster and faster till something has to give.
It's an inevitability.

AKA - Dean finds out something he really shouldn't have, makes some decisions that make a lot of people unhappy, goes on a road trip, and does what he's always done best. Saving people, killing things.
