Everything is wrong with Lex. There is some strange, deep itch inside him that he cannot scratch or shake.
And it's bothering him on a daily basis. Every time he looks at Ultraman. Every time he thinks of him or Superman, it gets multiplied by a thousand. Lex tells himself it's disgust. That it’s the revulsion of staring too long into the face of everything he loathes.
He can feel it in the way his skin itches when he’s alone. In the way silence feels like screaming.
He wants it to stop! He wants it to stop eating him alive. He wants to kill Superman. Destroy him. To touch him. Wait- No! Not that!
No.
No. He won’t think that. Can’t.
But the thought is already there, blooming like rot beneath floorboards.
He clenches his fists, nails biting into his palms hard enough to break skin. Maybe he hopes pain will snap him out of it. Maybe he hopes that if he bleeds - if something real happens - it will prove he’s still in control.
But it doesn’t.

Tangerine maybe feels a bit responsible for the civilian he inadvertantly got killed back in New York, but he doesn't feel guilt. And yeah, she was targeted because he'd used her for information, among other things, and gotten noticeably close to her, and perhaps he'd chosen her simply for her charmingly ironic name - Clementine - much to Lemon's chagrin, however whatever that feeling is, it evaporates less than an hour after he boards the Bullet Train bound for Morioka, and it's like seeing a ghost.
He's not the only one surprised.
The absolute last person disgraced mercenary, 'The Scorpion', expected to see was the hitman she had been hired to get close to for an intelligence gathering sting several months ago on the other side of the world. She even faked her own death, that bow was meant to be tied and in the past! Now here he was, on the same goddamn train as her client, and he's effectively babysitting the bastard who was responsible for disgracing her in the first place!
This was meant to be an easy job, watch over The Prince until the train arrived at Morioka, but unlike her boss's daughter, The Scorpion never had any such luck.
