Summary
“I called it the Good Luck quilt,” Grace says. “It’s all symbols of luck from across the world, it was a parting gift before the mission - but let’s not get into all that. It’s silly but it’s comforted me through some pretty hard times. I thought…I don’t know. I’m probably just being sentimental.”
Simon grasps the edge of the quilt that he can reach, if only to make sure it’s real. It’s beautiful. There’s not a lot of color left in the world, and colorful, soft fabric of this quality is worth a fortune. The patterns are joyful, almost childish. For some reason that Simon can’t quite articulate through the sickness and exhaustion, it makes him suddenly very certain that this isn’t the COI.
In Simon’s old universe, fabric, thread, and yarn are all precious commodities. He's had to learn to mend clothes and knit socks out of practicality. On Erid, it's a way to pay back what he owes, to make friends, and eventually, to heal.

Simon wakes up. He hadn't thought he would wake up after his lungs were filled with blood. And yet, here he is, in a pitch-black room, wounds tended to, listening to the most beautiful song he's ever heard.
He's in a world where the stars are alive, and he's been rescued from his blood-soaked iron coffin by a strange, clever little rock-spider alien trying to save the stars. Of course he'll help. Too bad neither of them are biologists...

Summary
Given the fact that their shipguest missing an arm, an eye, and had shown up with so many corrosive burns that he should be dead, the odds of him regaining consciousness are low enough as is. Grace doesn’t need to know the numbers to know they’re bad. And if he’s not going to wake up, surely he wouldn’t care if Grace slept next to him, if he just took a nap——
It’s invasive, Grace’s inner Jiminy Cricket chirps. It’s wrong, and you know it. The kind of thing that crazy people do, you’re not crazy, are you?

Grace found Simon in the Tau Ceti system and returned with him to Earth and showed him the world that he thought he could only hope to dream of
Can be read separately but based on my fic Too Good To Be Untrue in this same series just instead Grace and Simon actually go back to Earth in the end (AU where there is no leak, Rocky made it back to Erid safe and sound and happily reunited with Adrian and hailed as a hero to his world)
