Geno rides in the cramped back seat with his bag beside him and his knees pressed tight against the seatback in front of him. It’s like being on the plane all over again.
His mother is twisted around in her seat to look back at him, eyes still a little red from her tears but her face absolutely lit up as she talks about their plans for the week, all the things they’ll do and the food they’ll make. Geno’s father occasionally will chime in, but it’s mostly Natalia who is running the show and Geno’s head is spinning. This isn’t the kind of town people move away from. They settle and put down roots, metaphorically and, occasionally, literally.
It’s only been three or four years since Sid arrived.
(Three years, eleven months, two weeks, four days and a handful of hours, to be exact. But Geno doesn’t like to admit that he can still narrow it down so precisely.)

Geno doesn’t quite understand why Sid likes to keep sex to a minimum during the pre-game period. Sid claims that he likes to focus on just feeling his muscles move and thinking about getting his head in the right space to play. Geno would much rather just get off. As a result, Geno can’t really commiserate with Sid about how his sex drive picking up is a problem, which might make him a bad boyfriend, except for the fact that he totally accepts being cut off for a lot of the play-offs so he’s an excellent boyfriend, thank you very much.
