    Summary

An annoying little voice in her head, suspiciously reminiscent of a familiar white haired man, whispered, Mydei's obviously showing symptoms of pregnancy. He's done it, Phainon's defied biology, he's put a baby in him.

Hyacine rushed to say, “But you’ve been snacking a lot more, haven’t you? It can’t just be a regular disease, seeing as the nausea hasn't inhibited your appetite, but made it bigger.”

“So you agree then,” Mydei said, and a radiant grin erupted on his face as though Hyacine had just shared brilliant news. “It is something within my body.”

A few months after Hyacine thinks she is finally free from third-wheeling Phainon and Mydei, Mydei falls pregnant.

There Mydei was, looking unnaturally good for someone who had just given birth; Hyacine had helped change him out of his dirtied clothes, instead dressing him in a clean white robe, and he had a glow on his face as he smiled down at the not one, but two babies cradled in his arms.

Hyacine didn't need to have the gift of prophecy to foresee Phainon's reaction to the sight.

“D-dei…” He blubbered, the waterworks already starting as he stumbled over to the bed. For a moment, Hyacine's expectations were surpassed as he reached a shaky hand out to tuck a strand of blond hair away from Mydei's face and caressed his cheek.

Then he collapsed into a puddle on the floor, right on the pillow that Hyacine had set down in anticipation of this happening.

Phainon looked like an infatuated dog, kneeling beside the bed and raising his head onto the mattress to see their babies before breaking down in tears as he sobbed into the sheets.

    Summary

It truly was impressive to see just how hopeless that man was for to Mydei. All anyone had to do was bring up the prince’s name, and Phainon’s ears would perk up like he had just heard a crucial detail to attack in a debate.

In fact, Hyacine mused, you probably didn’t even have to bring up Mydei's name. Phainon would inevitably derail any conversation into an ode to his muse’s greatness.

Hyacine as she observes (against her will) the strange relationship between Phainon and Mydei over the years.

Mydei and Phainon are so cute!!

“No really, Hyacine, he was a force of nature,” Phainon continued, his voice taking on a breathy quality. “We first started fighting with our weapons – did you know he uses gauntlets? I had to pin him down to disarm him, and he was so hissy, it was cute. That's when he did this, I think.”

Phainon lifted his shirt and gestured vaguely to his side, where a mottled, ugly bruise was forming. “He kicked me in the ribs,” Phainon smiled dreamily, “I hope it scars.”

“...bruises don't tend to leave scars, Lord Phainon,” Hyacine spoke tentatively, and led the man into the infirmary. He was probably in need of a more comprehensive checkup. He seemed concussed.

    Summary

“Creation triumphs destruction, suggesting that destruction is nothing but a cleanse, the formation of a blank slate to plant new life into.” There was a hidden meaning there, something Phainon was not yet privy to – Mydeimos spoke as though there was a blatant irony to his words.

“Your beloved children, they have started worshipping me alongside you. Just as you walk the battlefield in its aftermath, it appears that I am but a stretch of land for you to claim, till, and sow new life into.”

In the aftermath of battle, Mydei reveals he has gained another title alongside Strife. This adds to the presumptions of the relationship between Nikador and Kephale.

“Nikador is not only Strife, but… Fertility. For some people, hand in hand with Childbearing.”

    “Ah.”

Mydei rushed to continue speaking. “Don't tell me you didn't notice. My body has already started to develop changes to fit the views of my supplicants.”

He grabbed one of Phainon's hands, dragging it slowly down to the slight swell of his stomach. “They have started erecting monuments in my image, only to adorn me with your symbols and intertwine us like we are an inseparable pair. ‘In Strife’s womb does the World plant seed, ’ they say, and shape my body to house whatever you wish.”

    Summary

Because of course Phainon thought this was normal.

Of course he thought giving away something this important was just… friendly.

Mydei’s gaze dropped for half a second, catching the way Phainon’s face was still completely calm, completely unaware, completely unfairly handsome.

    He wanted to bite him.

This is literally too sweet not to share.

Mydei folded his arms—well, tried to, but ended up keeping one hand firmly hooked onto Phainon instead. "You're not allowed to leave."

    "What?"

    "Ever."

    "Mydei—"

    "Ever."

The word came out slightly slurred thanks to the cotton in his cheek, which somehow only made him sound more serious, and more ridiculous.

Then, as if the verbal warning wasn’t enough, Mydei reached up and pinched Phainon’s cheeks with both hands, squishing his face as though physically emphasizing his point. His expression remained stern, but there was something almost childish in the way he held on, like he was making absolutely sure Phainon understood the severity of the rule.

"You stay," he said again, quieter this time, still holding his face.
