Summary
Several years ago, a street racer gets caught in the city. Instead of a normal sentence, they're offered time in the Armed Forces. This results in a Top Gun graduate, still watched by those in charge.
A pilot balances a life of street racing with life as a pilot. He lives for the thrill.
The Admiral's nephew tries to live past his last name and the trauma he's been through. Naturally, he still joins Top Gun.
What happens if the three of them meet up for what is essentially a suicide mission for the best of the best?

Summary
He thought about calling Charlie, for a second, and yelling at him that this clandestine secret-organization bullshit was beneath him and that he should've gotten the message when he went almost a decade without speaking to him—but Charlie's proud, prouder than him, and that pride would never have allowed him to reach out and beg Bosco to come back. Which meant that this was the Eye, and the Eye could be ignored, sure, but they had a way of making you wonder what was next and what would happen if you decided not to join them. They're good at that. He still should've thrown the card away.
Instead Bosco broke his contract, insisted he needed to take a leave of absence, ignored his agent, and packed up and headed to Vegas.
...
The Horsemen perform in Vegas, and Bosco LeRoy comes out of retirement just in time to take on his most daring role yet--and, of course, try to ruin his ex's plan by reminding these up-and-coming magicians that they can't trust Charlie Vanderberg.
(Or: The Horsemen-Ponies roleswap, now with actual movie plot!)

Oh this is going to go *crazy*. Rhodes as a kid basically, which means Lionel shrike probably dies later (presumably), but he's also definitely still part of this plan and pulling both the Horsemen and The Furies together while removing himself from that. He's like Charlie but worse. Then there's Bosco and Charlie's whole thing, Danny's possible personal grudge against Bosco for something, The Horsemen not trusting Bosco (or June when/if she turns up).
June's entire part as well, that feels like it's inevitable.
Charlie's gonna gain another kid in Rhodes. And I really really want a small part of Dylan's POV seeing the Horsemen and Charlie Vandenberg working together and how close they are. Maybe realising he could have been part of that, maybe consider that they are getting too close, maybe that they are great together. It's a mystery.
Anyways, a work of art (as always) by nevermoreokay, okay, okay, oh my fucking god!1 okay, so june is back (for good or bad we will see) (also thats a new one for her). the merging of storylines in a reverse order is so interesting to me, because obviously there's similarities to nysm3 but reversed (more like the pacing/character appearances and age) and it still keeps the heist plans from nysm 1 and that is just so curiously (and so well) weaved together. if june is working with interpol, how does that work with alma? im guessing that dylan is still the guy behind the entire plan (a bit like charlie in nysm 3 but a LOT more removed because its still dylan after all). and he has to change his act from nysm 1 because that wouldnt fit with his age but this one works so so well and just ahhhh this is such a good series!!! AND atlas' backstory is so well done (reminds me of one of the furies' fanon (or is it canon??) backstories which makes sense because reverse au). its all so so good

this entire trilogy is basically the author repeatedly throwing bricks at my head and handing me psychic damage. it's great though. kinda hoping for a kryoz vigilante return but its soooo unlikely. maybe he just turns up once to help Swimmer or Leap?

Second read: still need more chapters. Specifically Henri going insane and turning on everyone, them finding out what Jae's done (whether they're twisting they're words or not) and trying to either fix things or actually kill Henri. (goddamn, 3rd reread and theyve abandoned the fic :() -

again, all of the gotham fam are better than i because i would have killed the league. also the league finding out all the gotham bats that arent bruce are actually bruce's kids is hilarious to me as an ending. like 'surprise, those people you tried getting to replace me and have now worked with are all my kids!' -
