Summary
When you love something too much, you spoil and cherish it, and if your mind is anything like the engineer's, you eventually end up killing it.
In other words, what was at first just a sweet (borderline erotic) friendship between the two men starts rotting from the inside. Turns out engineer's real motivation's weren't exactly good-hearted.
