Summary
Merlin works as a barista at The Coffee Pot, a small shop with a bunch of beloved regulars, Gwaine —his chaotic but loyal co-worker— and a particularly grumpy regular he has been baiting for months now; a handsome man who comes in at 7:46 every weekday morning, orders a large black coffee with no sugar, and somehow makes Merlin's day complete.
It's a good life.
But lately, the shadows feel a little closer. A rose left on his doorstep. A note with a smiley face. The sensation of eyes watching from across the street. Merlin tells himself it's nothing—just his imagination, just coincidence, just the city being the city.

Danny hummed to himself, the saccharine melody a stark contrast to the grimy brick walls of the Gotham alley. The sour tang of garbage and ozone from his own fried core warred along with the thick, metallic scent of blood filled the air. His hands slick with something he refused to identify.
"You look like shit, man." The voice from the helmet was mechanically distorted, but the dry tone was clear. The man’s head tilted. "Can you tell me why you are trying to dress up as a trash can?"
Danny blinked slowly, the adrenaline high finally, blessedly, beginning to ebb. The pain was becoming a distant, roaring thing. Peaceful, almost.
He met the blank gaze of the helmet, his own eyes wide and unnervingly calm. "My organs fell out…" he stated, his voice disturbingly even. He gestured weakly with a crimson-coated hand toward the ruin of his midsection. "Don't have skin anymore."

Summary
Danny was a block away from his apartment when a figure darted from an alley, yanking him out of his thoughts and into the shadows. He dropped his groceries with a loud clunk, his hands already glowing a faint green and opening his stance to a more stable one, ready to kick back if necessary, but when he focused on what, or more like who, pulled him into the alley, he froze.
"DANNY! DANNY, I NEED YOU TO PRETEND TO BE MY BOYFRIEND!"
Danny stared at the frantic face of Wes Weston, his adrenaline quickly fading into pure, unadulterated confusion. "Wha—?"
