Seeing Kuji, standing breathless in the rain, calling him Sakutaro, offering a night at an onsen, overwhelmed his senses. The smell of the damp Tokyo concrete, the sounds of droplets on umbrellas and cars rushing by, the light of the building behind him, all of those disappeared, narrowing the world down to the Kuji Shizuka in front of him. His feet moved on his own, launching his body into Kuji’s arms, the words finally, finally coming to him with the ease he always wanted.
