Summary
Zack Addy tries to print something in the library and meets a fellow anthropology student, Tala, who he finds fascinating. She finds him a little weird, but also a little cute. He's in forensic anthropology, while Tala's in visual anthropology - in short, he examines death; she examines life. Angela and Hodgins find out, and they coach him how to ask her out.
Sharing stories about their own versions of field work, Zack then has to deal with his memories with Iraq. With a museum outing, a karaoke night, and a dance and a garden party date looming at the university, Tala starts to bring out something in him that he never knew was there...

When she says “Stop being weird. It’s making me very uncomfortable”, what she means is be professional. What she means is be amicable. What she means is be less obviously heartbroken.
She knew it was the wrong thing to say in the moment, when he sighed and walked away. Because it’s unfair, really, to hold the very thing she knew would happen against him. But what’s worse, is that she heard how it sounded as she said it. The strong implication that Hodgins is making her uncomfortable. Which isn’t true. Because she misses him as her friend, and she can’t stop thinking about him as something more.
So, she’s regretting it. Letting him walk out of the lab with those words hanging between them. She’s regretting it long before Cam and Booth come running through the doors, all panic and clutched phones and wild eyes. And then, there’s nothing she regrets more.
