He turned the thought over. What if he lowered the gun. What if he surrendered to those blues instead.
A violent blow struck the back of his head. The ground tilted. His vision blurred as he fell forward, collapsing at Adam's feet.
The last thing he saw was those terrified blue eyes finally meeting his own.

Doctor Lecter had come up with the perfect therapy for Adam. Instead of trying to teach Adam to mask, or identify emotions he was hopeless at, Doctor Lecter said his therapy would be a place for him to decompress. A place Adam didn’t have to make any decisions and second guess himself, how he was sitting, what his face looked like, if others were judging him. In therapy, Adam was simply Doctor Lecter’s doll.

Nigel tilted his head. "Kid, listen—" There was that muffled protesting again, louder this time, the man wriggling slightly against his restraints. Nigel narrowed his eyes. He briefly considered removing the kid's blindfold, given that it didn't matter too much at this stage whether he saw his captor or not, but instead he reached out for the gag, roughly tugging the twisted-up shirt until it came free and pressed against the man's chin instead.
The man inhaled loudly through his mouth and then declared, "I'm twenty-nine."
Nigel blinked.
"What? I don't give a fuck—"
"I'm twenty-nine. I'm not a kid. I pay taxes," the man stated through slightly uneven breaths.

Adam saw something he shouldn't. Nigel is going to have to do something about that.
