“I should get you home,” he said. His voice dropped in tone, into something rougher, but not quite in anger.
She shook her head. “Still have things to do,” she murmured. Every word became a fight against herself. Heat pooled where he touched but she couldn’t bring herself to make him let go.
“Can’t it wait for morning?” Sylvain gave a weaker smile, beginning another joke. “If you’re looking for a good time, you won’t find it here.”
“You’re right, I should’ve gone to another bar.”
The patrons boomed behind them, laughing, some dancing. A couple passed out on the chairs around them, but all that melted into background rabble under the intensity of his gaze. His palm pressed into her. He inched closer. She could almost smell the cologne he used, of cedarwood and cloves. His eyes darted down. They fluttered against her exposed skin and she wanted nothing more than to give him there go ahead, here and now. Assuming he’d even want to.
